An area made famous by West Ham United who take their name from this area. The club itself was captained for a while by Bobby Moore, famous for being part of the squad that won England the world cup in 1966.
Formerly a major manufacturing hub for pharmaceuticals, chemicals and processed food, it developed from the 1844 Metropolitan Building Act which forbade these industries to exist in the metropolitan area of London. Being just outside, West Ham became home to these industries.
Being served by both the Jubilee line and District line, West Ham has seen increased development in the past years.
